Savannah Herron is a senior at LaRue County High School. She enjoys photography, books, writing, and small furry animals. “Her curiosity was too much for her. “There are 30,000 days in your life. When I was 24, I realized I’m almost 9,000 days down. There are no warm-ups, no practice rounds, no reset buttons. Your biggest risk isn’t failing, it’s getting too comfortable. Every day, we’re writing a few more words of a story. I wanted my story to be an adventure and that’s made all the difference.”- Drew Houston

 

Creative writing is a place for those who feel the itch to create, the yearn to describe the indescribable, and the need to tell the universe as they see it. This class is simply more than a class; it is where one learns to find and channel ones inner artist and writer. 12th grader Jennifer Butler described her experience with

the class as follows, “Well, first, I started that class because I had a great idea for a hook and had no clue how to go about writing it. Its really helped me figure out how to organize my thought.” Crazy fun activities help us see life through different and new prospective and grow closer as a group. Jennifer went on to say, “It also [helped] me come up with some more great stories, and getting to hear everyone else is like a big treat. While listening to them I find way[s] to improve my own work.

” We also get the experience of learning what it is like to write articles and meet deadlines for a newspaper through the school online newspaper Talk of the Hawk. Overall, it is an experience that will leave you as a stronger and better writer. As 12th grader Candyce Magill states, “It has helped me not be afraid to speak as well as help me be a better writer.” This class is a wonderful help to all who want to express themselves.
