My name is Harlan Murray I'm a sophomore at LCHS. People usually know me as "The Blind kid".

Ok first of all I don’t like today’s music. Either it’s sung by a women and about a break up, or it’s sung by a man and about a girl. Oh and not to mention that the “Singers” are not singing they are basically talking. But when they are singing they are using auto tune to make sure they don’t sound like crap. And they don’t use real instruments they use the little machine in the corner to make “music” for them. So why do I have a problem with today’s music well it’s because they don’t sing, they don’t use instruments and they don’t have the passion to make music.

So first of all today’s “Singers” don’t sing or use actual instruments. Most of the songs today all the “Singers” are just talking into a mic, and today’s teens think that is singing? No! Singing is where you make your voice louder and deeper/higher than your normal talking voice. But if they do sing it’s no better, because they use auto tune which is a device to make your voice automatically tune to the same tone the “instruments” are, instead of actually doing it yourself. So this means that they don’t know how to actually sing and when they are singing in a concert they either just suck which just shows the world what they actually sound like, or the lip sync over a recording.

Music, what is music well it is a form of art that uses devices known as instruments to create beautiful sounding songs. Not press the spacebar and let it play out. I miss the days when a band would go in a studio and on stage and actually play instruments. But now the “singer” will walk on stage the guys behind the curtain will press the button and Vwa-Lah music. But sometimes they will have instruments on stage but they play over a recording just like the singers. And Levi Wilmoth chimed in by saying that “All the songs typically sound the same, and they have a simple tune with no interesting parts in them.”

Finally today’s music isn’t good because the artist have no passion for music. The artist today are people like Jacob Sartorius are teenagers who only get into music for fame. And they do for like a month. But some other people come and just want the money for selling their song to the radio. Levi Wilmoth had this to say “They want fame and fortune there is no inspirational or passion in what they do.” So what happened with pouring your feelings and you beliefs into our music?

So as you can see from the examples I have provided and what other people have said we can safely say that today’s music isn’t as good as it was 30 years ago. But if you like todays music that’s fine im not here to change your mind I’m just here to show the facts.
