Savannah Herron is a senior at LaRue County High School. She enjoys photography, books, writing, and small furry animals. “Her curiosity was too much for her. She felt almost as if she could hear the books whispering on the other side of the half-open door. They were promising her a thousand unknown stories, a thousand doors into worlds she had never seen before.” ― Cornelia Funke, Inkheart

When one hears the word Cinemania, you are typically thinking one of two things:

  1. Oh that’s the one video thing that the tech lab people do.

Or

  1. What is that?

No matter which group you’re in, (or if you are in a third group whom actually knows what it is because you are involved in it or just up-to-date on all the happenings around the school) no one seems to know a lot about what it actually is. According to the STLP Cinemania online rubric, it is “just that — Mania to produce a video less than three minutes in 48 hours after receiving an email with the rules and information. Once the video is finished, post online.” Once they receive all the requirements, they get together and for two days, brainstorm, video, and edit, until the video is perfect and ready for posting. Our STLP group works very hard on the videos that they enter in the competition and all that hard work pays off with this being the second year in a row that they have won Cinemania. Make sure that you congratulate the STLP students whenever you see them for their winning video.
