She crept out of the room trying her hardest not to make a sound. If she’s caught, trouble will lurk around the corner. She was almost to the end of the hall until she heard a noise and began to duck behind the closet table. She had awakened. She faced it and slowly tried creeping away, not too quickly for worry of too much noise, seeing the exit. She just needed to wait a while longer. Until it had left. But the sound of footsteps got louder making a horrible noise in the process. Her breathing got heavy. She held her breathe, hoping it would go away and she could escape. Finally, footsteps getting quieter, it crept back to its lair. She reached the door knob, she was almost there. A hand rested on her shoulder, she knew she was caught.

She turned around slowly to face her and she let out a sigh, “How did you know?”

Rubbing her eye, she answered, “A mother always knows.”
