What could be better than a class where you learn something relevant? A class that touches bases with real time problems and governmental decisions? Despite what the name suggests, the students of street law learn things about foreign politics, how a court room works, or even practical things like the effects of drugs on your body or words that the general public doesn’t know but should.
Mr. Bryan, one of our street law teachers, specifically likes to teach through the means of film productions and online articles. It’s no secret that most of the students in my class enjoy strongly engaging in the movies, and because of this, retaining key details about the film is easy and serves as an amazing tool for learning. Most, if not all, aspects of what we’re learning at the time relates to the students in one way or another, which is also another factor driving interest in the class.
Even one of our newest students, Jacob, says, “At the end of the class, I, for one, usually walk out knowing something I didn’t know before.” As a teen, politics were never my thing, but after a few discussions in Street Law, I, for one, form an opinion of my own and can’t help but to feel involved with the issues affecting me surrounding my community.
