I'm a junior who loves to read, write, and binge watching Games of Thrones. I also love to hang out with my friends and family. I also work at Burger King in Radcliff.

Biology is the study of living organisms. Most people think that biology is all about dissecting animals and seeing their insides, and all that jazz. One teacher who has made it fun is Mrs. Amy Litton. Mrs. Litton is a biology teacher at LaRue County High School. Born in Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Litton was 5 years old when she moved to Hart County, which is where she stayed until she graduated. Mrs. Litton got interested in teaching Biology because, ‘‘I watched a movie called The Right Stuff when I was little and had dreams of being like John Glenn (an astronaut).  As I grew up, I held on to that astronaut dream but added to it by wanting to be a doctor on the first mission to Mars.  I applied to the Air Force Academy and got in with plans of majoring in Biology.  I met this fella at GSP and was so “in love” that I let that be an excuse to pull out of my nomination to the Academy and go to UK with him instead.  I kept my major and fell in love with it.  Being a doctor wasn’t in my heart so I took a year off before applying to medical school and teaching found me.  I went back and got certified and haven’t looked back since.  I love teaching and even more I love teaching biology.  And, if NASA ever has one of those teacher-to-astronaut programs again, I’m totally in!’’

Mrs. Litton is the mother of 7 children: 4 being hers, 1 being her daughter-in-law, and the other two being her grandchildren. Tyler is the oldest at 24, who is married to Evangeline, with whom he has 2 kids: Carraway, 2 years old, and Dexter 2 months old. Olivia is the second oldest at 19 years old. Next is Bailey who is 10 years old, and the youngest, Ayla, at 2 years old. They are all her ‘’pride and joy and they make [her] world so happy.’’ As she has said. When Mrs. Litton is not teaching us kids about Biology or taking care of her kids, she likes to read, hang out with friends, travel, do normal teenage things, and binge watch one or two series on Netflix.

Traveling is what Mrs. Litton and her family like to do. When Mrs. Litton was younger she wished she had traveled to Israel. She wanted to go to Israel is because she wanted to walk the path Jesus walked, and still does. She also has been to most of the states except for; N. Dakota, S. Dakota, Minnesota, Alaska, and Hawaii, along with traveling out of the country. She has been to London, England for a family vacation, Peru for a mission work, Haiti (2 times, also about to go back) also for mission work, Bahamas for her honeymoon, Cayman Islands & Cozumel/Cancun Mexico for a cruise. She still has many places she wants to go, including upper England.

Unlike some of the other teachers, Mrs. Litton didn’t start teaching in Larue. She started at Hart County High School, teaching Earth Science/ Biology. Then she went to John Hardin High School, teaching Environmental Science, Anatomy, and Biology. Finally she came to LCHS, where she is now teaching Biology, Integrated Science, and Dual Credit Anatomy. She has been teaching for almost 13 years, and she plans on retiring as a teacher a long way down the road. She has always been teaching high school, so I questioned her about what would it be like to teach younger classmen, ‘’It would be very challenging, especially with younger kids.’’

So, now we all know a little bit more about Mrs. Amy Litton. We know that she taught at Hart County, John Hardin, and here at Larue. She has traveled to almost every state of the U.S.A. and has a lot more to go. Along with the rest of the world she hasn’t been to. She is a mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, wife, friend, and Biology teacher. She has a big heart and she is a great Christian. She loves her family, her friends, her life, and she wants to make it even better. That is the teacher for this episode. Stay tuned to find out about the next teacher spotlight. See you soon!
