The crazy mama’s running with a baby on their hips, knocking over everything and hitting everyone in their path trying to get the best deals. Black Friday, while it’s not considered an official holiday, it’s known as the largest shopping day in America. According to Black Friday statistics, “An average Sixty-Seven billion dollars is spent on Black Friday shopping.” Whether you stay at home or whether you camp out the night before, these are three simple strategies to get you the best deals the fastest and smoothest way. Three strategies are dividing and conquering, Being an early bird, and scouting out the sales beforehand.

One strategy to survive Black Friday shopping is to Divide and Conquer. The literal definition of dividing and conquering is, “ The policy of maintaining control over one’s subordinates or subjects by encouraging dissent between them.”  Before planning out your Black Friday shopping trip, it’s always good to have someone with you to fight the crowd and get all the good deals with. You know what they always say, “ Two is better than One.” Once you have that certain friend with you, make the steps to divide, you go one way she goes the other, and grab what both of you can. After, meet in the middle and show all your great deals. LaRue County High School student, Flor Serrano stated, “ When me and my family go Black Friday shopping we always split up and go our separate ways, so we can all grab things from different areas of the store we want.”

Another strategy to survive Black Friday shopping is to be an Early bird. Waking up at three in the morning is not everyone’s idea of having fun, but if it’s for great deals, you’ll want to set that alarm. Some stores open at different times, so you’ll have to check your local Ads beforehand. Whether you want to camp out days before or whether you want to get in line a couple hours before the store opens, the deals are at your hands. Certain stores hand out scratch offs to the first hundred people in line. Store scratch offs can range anywhere from five dollars to a thousand dollars. Sometimes, the store scratch offs can contain coupons and prizes. For example, during PINK’s, Black Friday sell, if you’re the first hundred to get in their line, you will get a free tote bag!

Lastly, the third strategy to survive Black Friday shopping is to check out the sales and all the deals beforehand. For example, Black Friday sale ads usually send out a couple of days before the holiday arrives. Store retailers will send out the best deals they will be offering and sometimes you can find a hidden coupon inside. LaRue County high school student, Jessica Skaggs, stated, “ Me and my Family always sit down after we have finished eating Thanksgiving Dinner and round-up all the sales ads and flip through them.”

Surviving the “Craziest night of the year”, isn’t all that bad when you follow these simple strategies. Dividing and conquering, being an early bird, and scouting out the sales beforehand, will make this the best Black Friday yet! Eat all the Thanksgiving dinner you can, take a nap, get up and go shop!!
