Prom, it happens once every school year. In this case, it will happen on April 28, a Saturday. Along with the ACT, college applications, and making sure grades are passing, also getting KEES money, Prom is one of the most exciting things in a high scholar’s time at school. One thing that students and parents have to worry about with prom is the cost. The ticket alone is $35. And the average cost of a prom dress is from $100-$160, and that’s depending on where you shop. But do not fear, prom is a time to not worry about cost but to get together with your friends and have a good time.
When it comes to prom, people often wonder who they’re going to take. Some students are going with their boyfriend/girlfriend that they already have, and there are some people who go with a group of friends, and then there are those who choose not to go considering how expensive it is. Well in all truth, it’s really not. You can even ask Mikala Baka. She is going with one of her friends from her lunch: Kodee Brinegar. You can also ask Elizabeth Crewz who is planning on going with her sister, Aleea.
But with having a date comes to finding the perfect outfit for the prom theme: Enchanted Forest. I have asked several students who are going to prom, such as Jacob Rutledge, Elizabeth ”Liz” Crewz, Hailey Bondia, Zoë Blair, Daniel Hardy, and Ashlen Grubbs, just to name a few. They gave me a brief description of what they are going to wear the night of April 28.
Zoë said, ”Pockets, it has pockets, a long skirt, cut off shirt at the shoulders, and jewels.”
Jacob said, ”Black tux, also it’s easier to buy your tux than to rent.”
Hailey described, ”It’s a 2 piece with ruffles, and it’s a light pink with gem embellishments.”
Liz commented, ”Just so I don’t spoil what I’m wearing, it’s a black, long sleeve dress with floral print near the bottom.”
Mikala summarized, ‘’It has pockets, full-skirted, and long.’’
Most of the girls for the prom of 2018 have chosen to go with a two piece and ruffles, and, of course, the usual long skirt. Once ladies and gentlemen have found the perfect dress and/or tuxes it is only a matter of time before it comes the big day: prom day.
Prom day consists of getting ready for prom; from the moment you wake up to the moment you’re on your way to prom. Some people have to wake up several hours early that morning just so they can do all the things they need to do to get ready. Some make appointments ahead in advance so that they can get things done faster compared to doing them at home. Some may even choose to do their preparation at home with their family. And some may do a little of each. This is one of the craziest and busiest day for businesses, such as hair salons, nail shops, shoe stores, and jewelry stores, for those last minute jewelry additions.
Prom is hectic and busy, especially for those who are actually going compared to those who are not going and have other plans that night. But in the end, it will all be worth it. Some past prom goers have said that prom was hot and sweaty, but they had fun. Prom is more than a dance held at the end of the school year, it’s a dance where you go and make memories in your final years of high school. Prom is a memorable moment.
