The school year is coming to an end, and we all know what that means: endlessly studying, stressful EOCs, and long wait until summer break. Even when the school halls seem like they’re closing in, there is always one thing to put everyone at ease. The art work along the walls by the auditorium. As the year ends, the art class seems be going out with bang! With that said, it only seems right to see exactly how the art class has been doing over the past school year.

When asked how she feels about far her students have come over the year, Ms. Hanna replied, “Oh, I’m always blown away. It never ceases to amaze me how they go from nothing to everything in just over a year.”

This year has been full of excitement, inside jokes, and wonderful projects, even when it seemed like everything was just frustrating. The art students always seem to pull through. For those who have no desire to paint, or don’t think they can, art seems amazing and complicated. The art students this year have had to undergo some of the hardest work, and according to Ms. Hanna, one of the most troubling project they’ve done is one of the recent ones. “The portraits. There is nothing harder than painting yourself live, and not from a picture.” Ms. Hanna revealed, and her students seem to agree.

When asked what project he thought was the hardest, Art I student, Dakota Martin shared, “The most challenging project this year was where we had to use mirrors to draw our faces and we were timed. One time we only has two minutes to paint our face.” He then added,” We weren’t allowed to look down at the paper.”

The portraits turned out spectacular and are already on display in the hallways. Ms. Hanna shared that this particular project is one of the ones she is most proud of her students for completing. ” I think it is the hardest thing we do, and that’s why I’m so thrilled with the result.” Ms. Hanna gushed with pride.

To really understand how amazing these art students are, you have to see their masterpieces. As you know, there always different artwork on the walls of the school, but people never really get enjoy it in the rush to class. All the art that the students create is magnificent, and should have its chance to shine. So, Talk of the Hawk brings to you, The Hawks’ Gallery of Art.

To end this long and exciting year right, a few art students, and Ms. Hanna, were asked to look all the way back to the beginning of the year, and think about everything that has happened in their art class. They took in all the laughs, troubles, successes, and the awkward moments, and managed to describe their year in only three words.
