LaRue Co High School Student

Texting in school, why it should be allowed some people think it’s distracting others don’t. Teachers and students of Laure county high school have different opinions on texting. As I interviewed a couple teachers and students I got their opinion on texting in school.

Mr. Bowen our multimedia teacher says that he is glad we are not allowed to text in school. He says, “It’s trouble.” What he means by that, say one student texts another student and causes trouble that could cause a fight or drama. I also asked him if he thinks it should be allowed and his answer was no.

I asked a senior of LARUE County which her name is Samantha Brown, what’s her opinion on not being allowed to text. She replied back and said, “I think students should be allowed to text in school if all work is done and if there is free time.” I also asked her what she thought about texting being allowed she said that she thinks it should be not all day just at least 30 minutes out of the day.

Mr. Goode one of our teachers I asked him if texting were distraction and if it should be allowed in schools; he answered me back he said,” Yes, Research has shown that it distracts students and negatively affects their ability to learn. Because student learning is our top priority, I am against students being able to text in class.”

This is crazy to see how much students and teachers have differences about texting. Different students have different opinions. Some students don’t want texting in school. As others would love to have texting in school. By interviewing a teacher and a student I see the different opinion from each one on texting in school.
