1:35am: Adam gets up to make breakfast. He sets the table, prepares the food, and pours himself a glass of orange juice. He carefully places the food on their plates and lays the silverware neatly next to them. He takes a seat, and begins to eat his eggs, French toast, and parts of his sausage. He takes a sip of his orange juice, and walks to the sink and places gloves on his hands. He grabs the fork and cup his wife used the morning before, and places them in her seat, filling her cup halfway. He does the same for his son, then disposes of the gloves.

2am: Adam heads to his son’s room, tucks him in, then goes back to bed, and falls asleep. His wife lies peacefully next to him.

2:45am: He wakes up soaked. He dreamed that his wife and child were murdered, their bodies contained stab wounds, and their beds were drenched in blood. He had turned to run for help, but he slipped in a puddle of blood in the hallway, and hit his head, causing him to wake up. He goes to get a drink of water, then returns to bed.

3:02am: Adam’s wife hears their son crying and goes to check on him. She places him in her lap, rocks him, and rubs his head. She pretends to bite his neck while making monster noises, to make him laugh, then she lays him down and tucks him in. She places his teddy bear in his arms and says, “Shhh, he’s sleeping.” She kisses him on the forehead, then goes back to bed.

3:56am: Police arrive at the scene because a neighbor reported cries and loud noises. They notice the table, as well as the bloody footprints on the floor in the hallway. Some officers move towards the child’s room to assure his safety, while the rest investigate Adam’s.

4am: The police check in Adam’s room, and see their sheets and pillows are soaked in blood, and their necks had chunks missing, as if something bit them.

4:08am: Another officer enters the boy’s room. Upon doing so, he sees a figure crouched in the corner. He turns on his handheld flashlight, points it in the figure’s direction, and sees the boy, covered in blood, shaking. The boy looks up at him, grins, then proceeds to place his index finger on his lips,

Shhh, they’re sleeping.”
